What Is Morse Code?

Morse code is a communication method that uses short and long signals, which are known as dots and dashes, to communicate across long distances. Each letter is represented by a sequence of these signals so it's able to be understood by those trained in Morse code. It's able to be transmitted either using flashes of light, or audible sounds like clicking, buzzing, or beeping.

Morse code was invented by Samuel Morse back in the 1830s, and it's been commonly used in the military, aviation, and several other industries. Before telephones and the internet, it was among the most popular and most effective ways to communicate effectively across long distances.
